Trinity: A Portable Wind Turbine for Charging on the Go

You’ve been there. No battery and you need to make a call. Could be a call about a closing or a new offer. Unfortunately, you have 1% battery life. There are options on the market that can help you improve your battery life today, but what’s exciting to me are newer sustainable innovations. For this Earth Day, I’m featuring the Trinity Vertical Wind Turbine as one of those. It’s a Kickstarter campaign with about 39 days to go as of this writing.

I’m posting this not as a, ‘hey everyone go out and get yourself one of these’, but as an indicator of where the future is headed and how it’s shaping up. This technology at this cost would have been impossible 5 years ago.

At 12″ long, it’s compact and can easily fold up to be carried along. I would keep one of these in my car for use as I travel. It comes in at 4lbs, so having it as part of a daily commute is not an option for me. I’m excited by the possibility it presents. This could be a great option for a home owner during a power outage or as a house warming gift. Great for camping and outdoor use as well. The battery can provide 4-6 charges once it’s full. What do you think about this? Are there other sustainable options you’d choose for your devices?
