Android Wear Watches come to iPhone; A Bigger, Slimmer Nest Thermostat; More in Five for Wednesday


  1. If you’re an iPhone user who’s not so keen on the Apple Watch, there’s good news: Android Wear watches now work with iPhone. Here’s Google’s official announcement, and The Verge has a good explanation of what to expect.
  2. It’s bigger, it’s slimmer, and it’s got some new functionality: check out the third-generation Nest thermostat.
  3. Choose your metaphor: it’s like Legos, or it’s like Bento boxes, or… However you describe it, Acer’s modular PC looks plenty awesome.
  4. Shopping from your mobile phone might get a whole lot easier: Swedish company Klarna’ checkout system lets you buy online with little more than a valid email address. How? Well, you’d be surprised at how quickly they can determine if you’re a good credit risk.
  5. If you thought some of the advances in solar power technology are impressive, wait until you read about the artificial leaf that can split hydrogen and oxygen. Yup, artificial photosysthesis.
