Edit Your Facebook Ad Preferences; Encrypt Your Text Messages; More in Five for Wednesday


  1. Unrelenting advertising is the price we pay for using Facebook, and that’s likely never going to change. But you can see (and edit!) what types of ads Facebook thinks you want to see. So if you’re like me and Facebook mistakenly thinks you like camping, head over here and tell them what’s what. (H/T Yahoo.)
  2. Standard texting isn’t secure, so consider using one of these three apps that let you send encrypted messages on your phone.

  5. New apps such as Lark (a healthy lifestyle app) and Hyper (a travel assistant) demonstrate a new trend in app design: using the back-and-forth flow of messaging to control and navigate the app. They’re both pretty cool.
