Caterpillar’s New Thermal Camera Phone; MasterCard’s “Selfie Pay;” More In Five for Wednesday


  1. Available in June, Caterpillar’s S60 cell phone has a built-in FLIR (thermal) camera. Your kids will probably take freaky selfies with it, but you might want to use it to check out where your hard-earned energy money is leaking out of your house.
  2. Speaking of selfies, MasterCard will soon be using facial recognition to authenticate users on their mobile app.
  3. Siri is available on most Apple devices, but it isn’t available on their computers. That’s probably going to change soon, as it’s strongly rumored that Siri is coming to OS X..
  4. These technologies will, “without a shadow of a doubt,” affect our lives in the next five years.
  5. Drones continue to be a hot topic; so hot that Disney is using an army of them to protect the next Star Wars movie’s secrets. But they’re not just for blockbuster film makers.
